Thursday/Sunday football next season
|
Putting aside how it may effect our progress on the pitch domestically, on a personal level does the Thursday/Sunday thing bother you? Will it put you out of sync with private arrangements, etc, whether that's going to the games or watching the games on a 50" Sony in a big fuck off armchair?
As a guide, if say we get out of the group stages and progress a further 2 rounds that is TEN Thursday/Sunday's..

I'll go to every home match on a Thursday if we qualify and IF I can afford it. The cost is a massive element for me. Having a ST with me and three kids is already a big investment (or it is for me anyway!).

It's actually a big result for me. Suddenly as a non-season ticket holder, Thursday night games become an opportunity to get tickets.

Thursday/mid week games are evening kick offs, being this side of the world that suits me fine, depending on the clocks changing i just get up a bit earlier or about the same time, the afternoon kicks offs are a right pain as its either the small hours or when clocks change, very late evening here.

I'll probably miss a few matches playing football for my team on a Sunday, but other than that no big deal.
I prefer a Saturday 3pm, but not so put out if that changes. More annoying if I do get an away season ticket and the Sunday game is away from home.

We will have to win two ties just to get to the group stages!
Let's take one step at a time.

Wouldn't be a massive issue although I do prefer games being on saturdays.
Anyway, we need to make it to the group stage yet!

Thursdays don't bother me. Sundays will be fucking shit though.
It's a massive negative for the competition, along with CL losers jumping in.
Needs a revamp on the urgent.

If (and it's a big if) we get through the qualifying round the owners will need to bring in (in my opinion) 3 additional players to cope with the vigours of Thursday / Sunday football.
I'd like to see some stats on how teams have faired on the Sunday after a European game on a Thursday. My guess is the win ratio would be pretty low.
I'm not a fan of the group format, the Thursday nights or the fact Champions League teams enter after being eliminated. I mean what the fuck is that all about? It's like teams eliminated from the 3rd round of the FA Cup going into the Paint Trophy (or whatever it's known as). Who makes these fucking decisions.
I'm also sceptical as to how much of a draw the competition is for potential big name signings.
Obviously love a European tour so I'm happy in that respect... And also would be great to progress and play some big teams... But I'm not bowled over.

He who pays the piper calls the tune. It's out of our hands but if every one of our Sunday games was away from home that would better suit me.
For our away support being in the northeast for a Sunday 4pm kick off must be a pain.

Wednesday/Saturday or Thursday/Sunday? There is no physical difference.
Personally though I hate Sunday games as my boy plays football on Sunday mornings. Makes some home games difficult and away games impossible.

Thurs / Sun didn't seem to do Spurs any harm this year... fucked up after they went out of EL.
In Nordrveit, Ogbonna, Payet, Kouyate we have players with plenty of European experience and no doubt they will be supplemented with more additions.... looking forward to it.
Personally quite like Sunday games... travel usually easier.

Agree with that although its a great opportunity for some of the youngsters to get a run out which should help the teams long term development. Plus more opportunitys to see us play at the OS seeing as it will be ballache getting tickets

Sundays are shit for train travel as they (and Bank Holidays) are always when they do engineering works. Could add hours to travel times. Also for me, it'll quite possibly interrupt my F1 viewing. So hopefully we'll only get Monday matches after EL games.

Because I have a personality disorder which makes it very difficult for me to plan things in advance cough son. Holidays, tickets for football, all a nightmare for me. Hoping to get one with the old man for the following season but fuck knows if that's going to be possible
